Culloden Battlefield (2 miles from Inverness) This is where Bonnie Prince Charlie's men were defeated by the Duke of Cumberland, known as "The Butcher". One thousand two hundred Highlanders lost their lives here on the morning of 16th April 1746. Buried in mass graves, they are remembered through stones which bear the names of their clans.

Loch Ness Twenty-four miles long and a mile wide in places, it reaches a depth of some 700 feet. Loch Ness is of course famous for 'Nessie' Is it fact or fiction? Well, it's more than our job's worth to tell you!

Visitor Attractions in and around Inverness

Inverness is home to some 55,000 highlanders and is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. The picturesque River Ness straddles the city as it flows out towards the Moray Firth, famous for its colony of Bottle-nosed Dolphins. The high street is packed with the usual outlets, as well as numerous craft and gift shops.
